SIDE A
  • Flutter (Leap/Climb) - This monster automatically breaks away and ignores the effects of monsters, victims, hindering terrain, and outdoor blocking terrain for movement purposes.
  • Dodge - When an attack succeeds against this monster, roll a d6 before damage is dealt. On a result of 5 or 6, this monster evades the attack.
  • Slash Cleaver - If the attack succeeds, roll a d6 before dealing damage. Replace this monster’s damage value with the result.
SIDE B
"The Soviets ran into some trouble with these little bastards in a small Siberian town near Dudinka.  Back in the late 60s their sci-ops were conducting some truly asinine experiments with portals.  The imps just swarmed through, infested the village, and then wormed into every chimney, crawlspace, and drainage tunnel in town.  They lost three containment teams before they finally just nuked the place.  The point is: be careful."

Sculpt: It looks a bit like a cross between one of those pink monsters from Doom 2 and a more traditional imp to me. The detail is nice and the faces are well painted with nice sharp looking teeth and the pose makes it look like it's crawling towards some hapless victim. Not bad at all.

Gameplay: This is a risky piece with slash on its first click then 2 damage and then nothing but 1's. This means you'll have to get value for your points out of this one on the first attack. It's got dodge which might help it survive and it's reasonably hard to hit but a short dial and low damage later in the dial means it deteriorates quickly. Flutter, dodge and slash on the first click though means this is a great piece for frenzying from behind cover and attacking a valuable target. Three of these blooded and acting as a pack can do 3-18 points of damage if they all hit, more than enough to rip apart any unique unwise enough to go it alone. Also don't forget they have a ranged attack of six which is better than average and can help persuade other monsters to come to them rather than having to chase. For thirty points the Vet Devil Imp is a good buy and having been on the wrong end of these guys quite a few times I can attest to their effectiveness, especially on an outdoor map which lets them ambush effectively.
