36. DREAD DOORMAN Nightmare, Slasher
Fifty years ago, a fancy old Art Deco hotel in the center of downtown became infamous when the police discovered that one of the hotel's doormen was actually a vicious serial killer, who used his knowledge of the comings and goings of the hotel's guests to plan gruesome murders. When the police closed in on the killer doorman, he fled to the hotel's basement levels and sabotaged the furnace, choosing to die in a fiery explosion (along with several innocent victims) rather than being taken alive. Although the physical damages to the hotel were fixed, the damage to its reputation proved fatal, and it eventually went out of business. It has stood empty for decades, despite several attempts by new investors to buy and renovate the crumbling old building- attempts that were plagued by bad luck and strange accidents that always resulted in the plans to re-open collapsing. Now, a Donald Trump-like real estate mogul has bought the long-empty hotel and plans to turn it into luxury condos, and he doesn't care about the hotel's sinister reputation... or the mysterious accidents on the construction site... or the rumors of a strange man dressed in an old-fashioned doorman uniform who has supposedly been seen lurking in the shadows...
