16. GIBBERING CRAWLER Abomination, Cthulhu
Some of the first visual depictions of Lovecraftian horrors I came across were the illustrations in the Cthulhu Mythos section of the original Deities & Demigods rulebook for the AD&D game (before the threat of legal action caused TSR to drop that section from later editions) by an artist named Erol Otis. I was immediately hooked on his stylized depictions of Mythos monsters, and wanted to include an homage to them in this set. A ghastly abomination which has crawled from the slime of some lightless abyss, the miniature would depict a creature with a vaguely humanoid upper body and a leech-like lower body. It would have eyes mounted on stalks, huge buck teeth, and a "mohawk" of writhing tendrils running from the top of it's head to the tip of it's tail, cast in translucent green plastic.
