59. MONKEY KING Guardian, Faerie, Legend
A trickster demi-god which originally appeared in the classical Chinese novel Journey To The West, first published in the 1590s. Since then, the character of the Monkey King (aka Sun Wukong) has appeared in numerous folk tales, plays, and, most recently, supernatural kung-fu movies. He is a skilled shape-shifter (although he has trouble transforming his tail), but is most often depicted as a man-sized monkey dressed in robes. He has both incredible martial skills and a host of magical abilities, which he uses to do battle with demons and even gods. In game terms, I would give him a "flippable" card, with the hand-to-hand combat skills, such as Giant Reach (his magical cudgel- Ruyi Jingu Bang- can expand to any length desired) on one side and his magic powers on the other.
